Destruction
As part of my destruction project I started 'letting lose' with my paintings, and experiment with colour and materials. This has actually turned out to be really interesting, and I am happy with some of the smaller pieces I have made;
These pieces were created using a mixture of paint, pva glue, glass paint, glitter glue, glitter powder, marble paint and nail varnish!
One Hundred Footprints
So, I have come to the end of my first semester, and I realised I haven't uploaded some of my 'final pieces' so I will do this before I begin research for my classes this semester. This video was made in response to the mapping project I have been working on. It's similar to the first map that I made, including lines and stories of one hundred of my friends.
I like the video, perhaps with better equipment etc. it would look more professional, but given my limited resources (my bedroom light) and the fact it's my first attempt, I was happy with the outcome :)
Previous to this I made another map painting and took it to a friends party. There I gave people some small gold nails and asked them to place these nails into the map in the places where they had lived in their lives. The map itself was Asia-centralised, adding initial confusion, and then secondly there were no outlines of countries so people had to try and work out where to place their nails. It was fun, and it got people sharing stories about where they had lived, which was really nice. The final outcome I feel, looks similar to some sort of world-domination piece, but I am still happy with it.
Finally, I made one more attempt at making a map, made out of tiny holes and lights. This map was nice, and an interesting picture has come from it, but I think doing it on a smaller scale, and being able to contain the light would improve the piece.

Photography
So I've spent all day in the photography studios today, with broken facilities, scanning my negatives and them coming out like this
So that was annoying, but got some nice photos scanned and ready for printing tomorrow. wuhey.

Maps and Space
I made this painting as a process piece for a mapping project, i have merged the ideas of Maps and Nebulae that I have previously looked at.
The painting is very large, and following this I think I will continue to make a globe and more maps from different views, perhaps making them with Asia or America in the centre.

Self Portraits
Another element of destruction I have decided to look at is the idea of the self portrait. This concept has been used throughout the years within art, and as a topic, it is something I have covered a decent amount throughout my practise.
I have taken photos that I chose to print off 3 years ago, when I first moved to University. They are images from my past I am fond of, containing friends of mine I am still close to, and some that I am not. The content of the photos is fairly irrelevant and random. The only constant within them all, is that they hold a photograph of me.
In this sketchbook I am experimenting and looking at ways in which I can destroy these photographs, but keeping the image of me visible and central. I have also looked at different, more abstract ways of drawing. I'm unsure where I am going with this, but as a beginning point I am fairly happy with the way they are turning out.
Abstract Paint
Below are a selection of experimentation pieces I have made for my 'Destruction' project. I am happy with the results, as I'm not very comfortable with this abstract way of working. I have used Watercolour, Acrylic, PVA, Nail Varnish and glitter, and I am pleased with the result. My plan for this now is to continue experimenting and to see what happens, perhaps create a few on canvas.
Also, I apologise for the quality of the images, my scanner is awful.
